Class Sum

    • Constructor Detail

      • Sum

        public Sum()
    • Method Detail

      • evaluate

        public IExpr evaluate(IAST ast)
        Description copied from class: AbstractFunctionEvaluator
        Symbolic evaluation of a function. ast.get(0) contains the head (i.e. the function symbol) of this abstract syntax tree (AST). ast.get(1) to ast.get(n) contains the first to n-th argument of the function.
        If necessary use the methods from the Validate class to check the number or types of arguments in the evaluate method.
        Note: if the symbolic evaluation isn't possible or no result is found the evaluate method returns with a null value without throwing an exception!
        Specified by:
        evaluate in interface IFunctionEvaluator
        Overrides:
        evaluate in class Table
        Parameters:
        ast - the abstract syntax tree (AST) which should be evaluated
        Returns:
        the evaluated object or null, if evaluation isn't possible

        public IExpr definiteSum(IExpr arg1,
                                 IAST list)
        Evaluate the definite sum: Sum[arg1, {var, from, to}]
        Parameters:
        arg1 - the first argument of the Sum[] function.
        list - constructed as {Symbol: var, Integer: from, Symbol: to}
        Returns:
      • indefiniteSum

        public IExpr indefiniteSum(IExpr arg1,
                                   ISymbol var)
        Evaluate the indefinite sum: Sum[arg1, var]
        Parameters:
        arg1 -
        var -
        Returns:
